ECDL FOR EDUCATORS Courseware to be launched in
Nisai’s Virtual Classroom at BETT 2004
Continued
Professional Development of teachers ICT skills now cannot be easier thanks to
the ECDL for Educators Courseware being available via an exciting Virtual
Classroom to be launched at BETT 2004
Teachers
across the globe can now hone their ICT skills in preparation for the European
Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) qualification as the result of a groundbreaking
deal between Aston Swann, developer of the ECDL for Educators Courseware, and
Nisai Education.. The
two companies believe that for a teacher to be competent with the
technology they must be confident with the technology and so have devised
a unique training programme using a combination of offline and online learning. “Teachers
start their learning with a face-to face session with a real trainer
off-line,” explains Libby Pickard, Special Projects Officer, Aston Swann.
“They begin the syllabus requirements for three of the ECDL Modules plus an
introduction to Nisai’s virtual classroom environment. This gives them the
confidence to start the remaining Modules with their tutor online, supported by
self study and workshops.” Using
ECDL for Educators in the new virtual learning environment, teachers can fit
their ICT studies into their busy schedules by joining online tutorials whenever
it suits them – perhaps slotting in a quick lunchtime lesson or logging on at
home in the evenings. The
ECDL for Educators tutor can teach a number of candidates across a variety of
locations in real time. All the
candidate requires is a PC with a sound card, headphones and microphone plus
Internet access using a minimum 56k modem – broadband is not required.
The ECDL for Educators tutor can speak to the ‘class’ as a whole or
to individual candidates, giving them a thorough and fulfilling learning
experience. Commenting
on the new partnership, Stephen May, Sales Manager at Nisai Education, said,
“We are very pleased to be working with Aston Swann, who are very professional
and are committed to providing dedicated courseware that enables teachers to
develop practical ICT skills that they can apply in the classroom.
Our virtual learning environment will make ECDL for Educators courseware
available to a whole new audience.” Details
