BCS updates performance points - 29 June 2005
IMPORTANT UPDATE TO BCS IT USER LEVEL 1 PERFORMANCE POINTS
29 June 2005 The British Computer Society today announced that they had been contacted by the Qualification Curriculum Authority (QCA) regarding the number of performance points allocated to BCS IT User Level 1.
A statement from the BCS says, "The QCA have incorrectly calculated the point value which is to be assigned to BCS IT User level 1. The point score is based upon the number of guided learning hours attached to a qualification. The QCA had miscalculated this when first assigning points last year. QCA have provided us with the following statement:
“The information on Performance Point for Qualification 100/1536/X BCS Level 1 Certificate for IT User (ECDL Part 1) that was sent to BCS in August 2004 was incorrect. This was rectified in May 2005 and the correct information can be found on OpenQuals”
This statement was received on 28 June 2005
This Means:
BCS Level 1 Certificate for IT Users now has a point score of 6.3 points. BCS Level 2 Certificate for IT Users remains unchanged at 46 points.
The maximum number of points available to educational establishments who deliver BCS IT User level 1 and level 2 remains unchanged at 46 points.
On behalf of QCA, we apologise for any confusion caused by this error."
