Learning Skills Council - BCS IT User Certificates
- ECDL Essentials is a Level 1 ITQ Award and comprises of 3 modules.
- ECDL Extra is a Level 2 ITQ Certificate and comprises of 4 modules.
- As the qualifications map to the ITQ standards they are eligible for funding in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
ECDL is also available as a single qualification comprising of seven modules which is eligible for funding in Scotland.

Therefore it is now possible to:
- achieve certification for just three ECDL modules (as BCS Certificate for IT Users Level 1)
- access Learning Skills Council funding for the qualification
- apply school performance indicator points (in England) to the qualification
- validate BCS IT User Level 2 as a proxy qualification for IT Key Skills Level 2
The funding codes are:
- BCS Level 1 Certificate for IT Users (ECDL Part 1) - 100/1536/X
- BCS Level 2 Certificate for IT Users (ECDL Part 2) - 100/2920/5
