How does ECDL fit national e-strategy?
Priority 4: “A good quality training and support package for ICT for practitioners”.
Whilst the competencies contained within the ECDL syllabus are essential to being able to work the Department for Children, Schools and Families Strategy, generic ECDL is not mapped per se.
The “ECDL/ICDL for Educators” courseware, however, puts the ECDL syllabus and competencies into context for schools, and professionally recognises those skills with the ECDL qualification.
Educators need sufficient ICT skills to be able to Harness Technology and ECDL for Educators courseware includes provision to: "Provide initial training, professional development, and appropriate access to support the high quality use of ICT and e-learning by teachers, trainers, lecturers, support staff and trainee teachers, through guidance and exemplars" "Encourage and recognise good in the use of ICT through professional recognition and accreditation"
