ECDL for Education Pupil ProjectsAston Swann Launches ECDL FOR EDUCATION Courseware Designed for Both Teachers and PupilsNew from Aston Swann
is ECDL for Education Courseware, an ICT training programme that
enables pupils as well as teachers to work towards the internationally
recognised ECDL qualification. ECDL
for Education Courseware has additional Pupil Projects that allows teachers to
take the programme into the classroom for their students in a context that is
relevant to them. The Pupil Projects in
ECDL for Education Courseware are suitable for Key Stages 3 and 4 and make a
great alternative to ICT at GCSE. Students
follow pupil-friendly exercises based on the seven modules of the ECDL syllabus
such as mail merging a story with different endings and searching the Internet
safely for information to help them with school trips, projects and careers
advice. Once the course is
completed the pupils can choose to take a test leading to the recognised ECDL
qualification. For teachers, the
ECDL for Education Courseware comprises seven modules with a classroom focus
providing them with the confidence to take ICT into their lessons.
Creating lesson plans using a word processor, managing classroom data
using a spreadsheet and searching the Internet for classroom resources are just
a few of the very practical skills that can be acquired.
Once the teacher feels competent with ICT they can then deliver the ECDL
for Education Courseware to their pupils. Debbie Skyrme, Education Programme Developer, Aston Swann, explained, “We developed the ECDL for Education Courseware following feedback from schools who wanted to introduce ECDL to pupils using relevant material. We believe that ECDL for Education courseware will furnish both pupils and teachers alike with the ICT skills they require for everyday use of computers, and the opportunity to gain a benchmark qualification will give students a certification that is recognised throughout the working world.” Please
