Are there other ECDL training programmes specifically for teachers?The ECDL for Educators suite of courseware is the first sector-specific training programme to be accredited by the ECDL Foundation Ltd. worldwide. Where can I find courseware to teach ECDL to my pupils?Please refer to the British Computer Society list of accredited courseware providers. More details 8. Is the courseware paper-based or online?ECDL for Educators is a paper-based training programme that fits within most
electronic Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Virtual Learning Environments (VLE). With five years experience of ICT skills training to educators, it is our belief that most teachers prefer to receive their own learning, as they deliver it - with books and in person. The ECDL for Educators course books take you click-by-click though the steps
needed to create useful classroom documents. You create those documents on live
on your own computer. 9. Is the courseware trainer-led or self study?The ECDL for Educators courseware is flexible. The courseware is learner driven and can be delivered either face-to-face, as self study, through work shops or as a combination - or over a Virtual Learning Environment, see FAQ. 8 The workbooks are written so that a learner with no prior knowledge of computers can work their way from the front to the back cover as self study. But with four years experience of ICT skills training to educators, it is our belief that most teachers prefer to receive their initial computer training in a face-to-face environment. We suggest that you consider nominating a suitable trainer to deliver the initial workbook content as a "scripted" training session, then offer the learner the option to continue the workbook as self study. 10. How can I become an ECDL for Educators trainer?Prospective trainers must provide evidence that they are competent in the
Microsoft Office suite to ECDL level or higher and have proven experience of
teacher training. A central database of accredited ECDL for Educators trainers will be
held by Aston Swann in order to supply training to those licence holders who do
not have, or require additional trainers. "Teacher Trainer -
Implementation and Support" training days may be held on site or at our head office in Hereford. 11. Is there funding to support my training?In a lot of cases, yes! We have identified individual, local and national funding. More details New! How do you track the numbers of learners coming though on the courses?The ECDL for Educators programme is monitored in conjunction with the British Computer Society. 13. How is the ECDL for Educators courseware different to other ECDL courseware?ECDL for Educators is not an off-the-shelf business ECDL training package. It has been written specifically for educators. What is "ICDL"?"ICDL" is the International Computer Driving Licence. The syllabus is the same as ECDL. The ECDL for Educators courseware is accredited for both ECDL and ICDL and is known as "ICDL for Educators" in countries outside of Europe. Is there a "first steps", pre-ECDL qualification available? New!Yes. the British Computer Society offer the equalskills certification covering four topics for users who are new to computers. New!The new ECDL for Education courseware has been written in Office XP and now includes additional Pupil Projects to facilitate the teaching of ECDL skills to pupils.
