ECDL for Educators Virtual LearningTeachers can brush up their ICT skills anytimeECDL for Educators coursware now available worldwide via a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)From
Sidcup to Sydney and West Sussex to the West Indies, teachers across the globe
can now hone their ICT skills in preparation for the European Computer Driving
Licence (ECDL) qualification thanks to Aston Swann making its ECDL for
Educators Courseware available via an exciting Virtual Learning
Environment (VLE). This
development will make ECDL for Educators courseware – which prepares
candidates for the ECDL benchmark skills qualification – available to
millions of teachers and is the result of a groundbreaking deal between Aston
Swann, developer of the ECDL for Educators Courseware, and Nisai Education, a
specialist e-learning consultancy. Using
ECDL for Educators in the new virtual learning environment, teachers can fit
their ICT studies into their busy schedules by joining online tutorials
whenever it suits them – perhaps slotting in a quick lunchtime lesson or
logging on at home in the evenings.
The
ECDL for Educators tutor can teach a number of candidates across a variety of
locations in real time. All the
candidate requires is a PC with a sound card, headphones and microphone plus
Internet access using a minimum 56k modem – broadband is not required.
The ECDL for Educators tutor can speak to the ‘class’ as a whole or
to individual candidates, giving them a thorough and fulfilling learning
experience. Commenting
on the new partnership, Stephen May, Sales Manager at Nisai Education, said,
“We are very pleased to be working with Aston Swann, who are very
professional and are committed to providing dedicated courseware that enables
teachers to develop practical ICT skills that they can apply in the classroom.
Our virtual learning environment will make ECDL for Educators
courseware available to a whole new audience.” Libby
Pickard, Special Projects Officer, Aston Swann, said, “It has always been a
priority for us that ECDL for Educators fits into a teacher’s hectic
schedule. The Courseware offers a
blended learning programme that can be delivered face-to-face, as a self-study option or in
workshops. Now that it can
be delivered via a Virtual Learning Environment we believe that ECDL for
Educators Courseware offers teachers a learning option that not only enables
them to develop core ICT skills for their chosen career but also fits in with
their timetable.” Further
