STAND NUMBER Z110, OLYMPIA, LONDON

ECDL FOR EDUCATORS COURSEWARE LAUNCHES ITS PREFERRED TRAINING PROVIDER NETWORK PROGRAMME AT BETT 2004

Following increased demand, the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) for Educators Courseware is launching its Preferred Training Provider Network programme at BETT 2004.  The Preferred Training Providers (PTPs) are accredited by Aston Swann to deliver the ECDL for Educators Courseware to schools and colleges across the UK - a comprehensive seven-module IT skills training programme from Aston Swann designed exclusively to help Teachers, Support Staff, School Managers and Administrators develop practical computing skills for teaching and learning in the classroom.

The Preferred Training Providers (PTPs) are independent training organisations already specialising for ICT in the education sector.  They are licensed to use the sector-specific ECDL for Educators Courseware which enables candidates to acquire practical IT skills that can immediately be put to use in school, such as creating lesson plans and worksheets and managing classroom data using a spreadsheet.  PTPs are courseware accredited trainers that will implement, manage and monitor the learning programme, resulting in candidates acquiring skills to the recognised ECDL qualification standard whilst promoting best practice in the use of ICT in schools.

Aston Swann has over ten years’ experience delivering computer training to the education sector.  The ECDL for Educators Courseware is a tailored learning programme that helps candidates work towards the established ECDL qualification, recognised by employers in the business world throughout Europe as an illustration of employee competence in computing.  The British Computer Society manages the implementation of ECDL in the UK.

The ECDL for Educators Courseware consists of seven modules with a specific focus on classroom use.  These include:
